In memory of a life so beautifully lived, with a heart full of love for family and friends. It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Kathryn Pickett announce her passing on March 13, 2023, while surrounded by her family.
Kathy was born July 3, 1941, in Cumberland Maryland to David and Marguerite Sowers. She grew up in Hancock, Maryland, graduated from Hancock High School and attended the University of Buffalo. Kathy met her husband Ray while he was stationed at Norfolk, VA while serving in the Marines. They lived in Hancock and Morgantown, WV until moving to Charles Town, WV where they lived making lifelong friends. In 1975 the family moved to Spring, TX where they lived until Kathy and Ray moved to Centennial, Co in 1991. They returned to Texas in 2018 to be close to their children and grandchildren, making new friends in their home on Lake Livingston.
After marriage, Kathy worked as a substitute teacher, a nursery school teacher's assistant and later in Texas was employed by Klein High School in the math department, until a long and successful career took off when she discovered real estate and became an agent. She worked in multiple areas of residential home sales.
Kathy's heart and home were always open; whether to teens in the neighborhood, friends her children brought home from college for a weekend or holiday, and later to their adult friends that just became family. Her children were raised with a strong Catholic faith, a love for family tradition, and a desire to help those in need.
Over the years she tried her hand at many crafting hobbies, but she will be most remembered for her talents in floral arrangement, sewing skills, and baking. We have all enjoyed a beautiful wreath hanging on a door, a floral arrangement on the mantle, or a costume made for Halloween that was made especially for us.
Her greatest joy apart from her children were her grandchildren, Tricia Cadwell, Dana Smith, Christopher Trimble, Sam Bosley, Holly New, Bailey Craig, and 7 great grandchildren. There are innumerable memories of road trips, camping in Colorado, and homemade cinnamon rolls.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, David and Marguerite Sowers, sister Carrie Mills, and grandson Cody Trimble. Kathy is survived by her loving husband Raymond Pickett and her children Melanie Trimble and husband Ted, Chris Bosley, and Eric Pickett and wife Marlene.
A Rosary will be held March 31, 2023, at 12:30 followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 2590 U.S. Hwy 190 Livingston, TX 77351.
In Lieu of flowers, Kathy's wishes were that donations be made to the March of Dimes.

Heaven gained another Angle. I was fortunate to be one of the college friends that experienced the Kindness and Love of Mrs Pickett (Kathy). She and Mr Pickett (Ray) made me feel welcomed and part of their family when I was so far away from my own family. She even welcomed my daughter into her home when she was in college in Colorado. I will always cherish the time I spent with the Pickett Family. Kathy...you will always be Loved and Greatly missed. I will always think of you as my "other" mom!

    With Love,
    JoAnne

Congratulations Kathy on a full and fruitful life. Long time no see but always in my mind. My early years visiting you, Ray, et al in the house on the hill in Hancock have left me with many warm memories. Rest in peace.
