He graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1960 and later graduated from Sam Houston State University.
Rex was a devoted man of God. As a faithful servant, he pastored Big Sandy Community Church for more than 20 years, dedicating his life to ministry and to serving those around him. Rex retired from Champion International, where he had worked for many years before turning his time and energy toward the things he loved most.
Rex found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed collecting cast iron, repairing Farmall tractors, gardening, squirrel hunting, and spending time cowboying with Flynn Hendrix. Above all, Rex was a pillar of strength and faith within his family and community.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his beloved with of 50 years Winnie Knight Hendrix; son, Floyd ''Bo'' Treadway & Tracy Mason; daughter, Mildred Smith & Robert; brother, Edwin Hendrix & Betty; grandchildren, Jere Warren & Natisha, Andy Treadway & Dylaney, Allen Treadway, Gared Vannoy, Mendy Fears & Jeffery, Wesley Smith & Amanda, Spencer Smith & Serena; numerous great- grandchildren, as well as many other loved ones and a host of friends.
Rex is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Duff and brother-in-law, Billy Duff.
