Rita Jeannette Balsam Hokanson was born March 2, 1936, in Houston, Texas to parents Peter Maurice Balsam and Jeannette Vidrine Balsam. She passed away on December 19, 2025, in Coldspring, Texas. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Ronald A. Hokanson, daughter Christina Hokanson and grandson Mathew Hokanson, as well as her brothers, Ronald and Neil Balsam.
Rita is survived by her children, Janell Lytle, Gary Hokanson, Steven Hokanson, and Greta Hokanson; grandchildren, Justin Landolt & wife Nichole, Travis Landolt, Vanessa Vatau & husband Mihai, Eric Hokanson, Steven Hokanson Jr. & wife Ashley, Christina Hokanson, Lynn Hokanson & wife Felicity, Alex Hokanson, and Cupcake Hokanson; great- grandchildren, Charlie Landolt and Vivienne Landolt; her brother Raymond Balsam, his spouse Sedie, along with nieces and nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be at 9:00- 10:15 Tuesday January 6th at Pace Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30am, at St Joseph Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Livingston. Father Paul Kahan, S.V.D will be officiating.
Interment is to follow Mass at 3:00p.m. at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
