Elsie Lois Dowden McNabb joyfully walked through the pearly gates to be with her Lord and Savior, March 13, 2025. For the first time in 60 years, she needed no wheelchair or crutches.

She was born on May 6, 1929, in Camp Ruby, Texas. She was raised in Blue Water in the piney woods of Polk County, Texas, that would always be home, whether she lived in central Texas or Oregon. After graduation, she moved to Beaumont, Texas where she attended secretarial school. There she met Jesse C. McNabb. He of dry wit, dark eyes and hair with a voice that rang out every Sunday in choir. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1948. Christmas was always loved and blessed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Johnny Dowden and Alice Collins Dowden; siblings, Robert Edward Dowden, John Thomas Dowden, Francis Marion Dowden and Gloria Marylou Richardson; husband, Jesse C. McNabb and son, Jesse Collin McNabb.

She is survived by her daughter, Alicia Ann McNabb and son James Francis McNabb.
The Family would like to thank the staff of Temple Living Center East and Heart to Heart Hospice for being her caregivers and support.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Temple Living Center East and Hear to Heart Hospice in her name.

Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, Thursday March 20, 2025, at Pace Funeral Home, in Livingston, Texas.

  1. Lindy Wyatt
Due to circumstances outside my control, I barely knew my Aunt Lois as a child. (My father was her brother-in-law, Harold McNabb.) I only came to know and deeply love her when she and I became prayer partners when I was being treated for cancer many years ago, I will always bless her memory!
  2. Patricia A Henderson
    Love you, Aunt Lois.
I will see you in Heaven.
