Bessie Mae Thomas born July 9, 1924, in Leesville, Louisiana to Joe and Shrena (Doyle) Droddy, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022, in New Caney, Texas at the age of 98.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Jeffers, Wanda Lopez; sons, Joe L. Willis, James W. Gassoitt Jr and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Anna Durant, Denny Willis, Sherry Ortiz, Shannon Willis, Brandon Gassoitt, Jaimie Reamer, Tiffany Moore, Stephanie Kennedy, Eddie Lopez; sixteen great grandchildren; as well as many loved ones and a host of friends.
Bessie is preceded in death by her husband Lathal; parents; brothers, Sam Droddy, Lester Droddy, John Droddy, William Droddy, Joe Luther Droddy; sister Erma Hare, Betty Wade; children Archie Edward Willis, John Willis, Edmond Willis, Leland Gassoitt.
Visitation for Mrs. Thomas will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Pace Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Bessie's Life will begin at 2pm Wednesday, January 4, 2023, with Pastor Dennis Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas.
